As a heartbreaking farewell to Chadwick Boseman, Marvel’s latest movie is a success. But the rest struggles to stay afloat.

Perhaps it’s just been stretched out too long and the trilogy’s ideas would’ve been better off condensed into a single or, to be generous, a pair of films rather than three.

This is a nearly two and a half hour slasher that loves to push the limits of its R-rating in terms of its violence; please make no mistake in what you’re getting yourself into when you watch this film. It can be a lot, even for seasoned horror veterans.

I’ve found Blackshear’s films to be particularly moving for a depressed doomer like myself. When I Consume You feels like the cap to an unofficial trilogy, with ideas that hit much harder both in the wake of the pandemic and with growing up in general. There are no easy answers, something that this film seems to understand far better than most. It’s all the better for it.

Ironically and unfortunately, They/Them itself seems to be one suffering from an identity crisis. The film’s tone is all over the place and never meshes together in a cohesive way.

Prey is the first Predator sequel (well, prequel) that demands a rewatch, and the most inspired and thrilling the franchise has been since Arnold first trekked into that jungle in ‘87.

Very few have delivered on such a viscerally entertaining, intelligent and profound level as he does here.

While the documentary itself may not be remarkable in its presentation, GWAR can’t help but stand out.

Shoddy effects and bad jokes be damned, this franchise has still got it where it counts. Love and Thunder is compelling despite its outside flaws – and hopefully isn’t the last of these to be able to overcome them.

Even decades later, their brand of one-track-mind stupidity hasn’t exactly gone out of style, for better or worse.
